We report with joy that Viveka Kumari, Leena’s mother, continues to strengthen. She continues respiratory therapy to build her lung capacity and increase mobility. She is breathing on her own without the assistance of the tracheostomy tube for longer periods of time. And she can walk longer and further with no assistance! We are so grateful for this very hopeful news.
Viveka and Leena’s father, Joseph are living with Leena’s during the recovery. She is being cared for by an in-home nurse and the family on a round-the-clock schedule. It is planned that Viveka will return to the hospital in Hyderabad to have the tube removed in February.
